Have you ever lacked confidence in yourself? Maybe that’s a silly question, because I’m pretty sure we all have at some point. I have walked many years struggling to find the confidence to walk out the things that God has placed in my heart to do. I’ve come to find a sense of confidence from the Lord that is placed in His ability to work through me, but I’ve also found some natural steps to boost my confidence!
One of these tools is so simple, yet makes a big difference! Put some extra effort into yourself! This may sound silly, but putting in more effort in how you present yourself will automatically boost your confidence. This type of confidence boost may seem temporary and lack importance, but I guarantee you it is important. Let me ask you…when do you feel most confident? When you’ve just thrown on your sweatpants, barely brushed your hair and showered? Or is it when you’ve put on a nice outfit and put more effort into your hair or makeup? I always feel more confident when I’m wearing something that makes me feel my best.
I’m not saying you have to dress to the nines every day, but when you present the best version of yourself, you’re going to feel the most confident. There is a saying that goes, “Dress for the job you want.” But I say, dress for the CONFIDENCE you want. Present and carry yourself in a way that makes you feel the most confident. This is a simple way to quickly boost your confidence. John Maxwell says,
“If you put a small value on yourself, rest assured, the world will not raise the price.”
See enough value in yourself to put your best foot forward and present your best version of yourself. Take the extra time to show yourself that you are worth the extra effort. Just telling yourself that and putting action steps to it will begin to boost your self-worth and value.
In saying this, I don’t mean that you need to dress a certain way to impress people. This all comes down to presenting yourself in a way that makes YOU feel good. This isn’t for anyone else’s approval or pleasure. This is for your own confidence. If you dress in order to impress other people, or to try to measure up to others, you are riding a slippery slope to vanity and attention seeking. So hear me out, choosing to put your best foot forward is not for others. Choosing to put a few extra minutes into your appearance is not for anyone else but you. Sometimes it’s a simple as asking yourself, “What makes me feel most confident?” Usually the answer to that question really shows you what steps to take in order to boost your own confidence. Remember that you need to learn to be confident in your OWN skin…so don’t find your confidence is dressing like someone else or comparing your best to anyone else’s.
Dress for success, but remember that your value is deeply rooted in the price that Jesus paid for you. It’s not in the clothes you wear or what you do. The way you measure the value of something is by seeing what price is being paid for it. Jesus paid the highest price for you, therefore He placed immense value on your life. So sisters, put your best foot forward, and know that you are worth the highest price!
