Gluten Free // by Anita Ford

2019 is a new year and many people have made plans with the intent to make this year their best year yet. Often times, people make changes to their diet and exercise routines in order to become the best version of themselves. Whether it be nutrition or fitness, there are also other key components in our lives that keep us fit.

I believe God designed us to be mentally, emotionally and spiritually healthy, as well. So, how do we reach a level of complete peace when our world thrives on busyness? By trusting in Him, setting boundaries that protect our peace and taking the time to nourish our bodies. Our world tends to think being busy equals importance. It’s not enough to eat well and exercise, we must eliminate key factors in our lives that often cause us to lose our joy.

So, how do we take care of our temple? It’s a daily job. I’ve always been someone who loves fitness and eating well, but a few years ago-I learned I have a gluten intolerance. My entire life changed because I had to adjust certain foods in my diet, and also I had to adapt to a new way of living which was completely gluten free. After a few months of living a gluten-free lifestyle, I began to feel less fatigued and had less skin sensitivities. Essentially, a change in my lifestyle literally changed my life.

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
1 Corinthians 6:19-2

It’s amazing to know we were bought with a price and when we take care of our bodies. God designed us with such intricate details and He fashioned us in His image. My prayer is that we continue to fuel our bodies with the things that nourish us and equip us to do His will.
