We are called to live lives that are set apart in every area. A misconception I had for a long time was that if I was “called, anointed, appointed, and set apart” I could do anything and still be in the will of God. Being chosen by God isn’t a free pass to live life however I please, if anything, we as chosen daughters of Christ have an obligation to live the life that is different than the world in every way. It’s not always the easy road, and it’s definitely the road less traveled on.
Reading James 5 (The Message) reminded me of this. “And since you know He cares, let your language show it. Don’t add words like, “I swear to God” to your own words. Don’t show your impatience by concocting oaths to hurry up God. Just say yes or no. Just say what is true.”
Every day, simple, menial tasks become spiritual when you understand that you are not simply here, but here on purpose for a specific task and reason. It is vital that we are connected directly to the source and we are always plugged in. Our charge comes from God, spending time in His word and developing that personal relationship with Him. When we are not charged up, its very difficult to walk in the fruits of the Spirit and live and love and look like Him. We do not have to burn out, and we will not grow weary when we carry our portable charger with us at all times.
God cares about what your closet looks like. He cares that we make our beds in the morning. Not literally, of course. But we cannot casually live lives doing what we will any longer, there is no fence riding in Heaven. It’s time to draw a line in the sand and choose to walk out the purpose with which we are here for. We have been placed specifically, and on purpose to do God’s will.
It starts with being intentional with what we have been currently given, and then as we do the dirty work and pick up our clothes and weed out what needs to go, He always comes through. It starts with the people you do life with on a constant basis. Before you are standing on the stage, seeing the end game of your dream, you will be stretched, challenged, and forced to grow to become the person God has called you to be.
It’s watching what you listen to and allowing the Holy Spirit to not only convict you, but change you from the inside out. That stretching, that pulling, that tugging, nagging and discomfort is God pulling on you and molding you. Just like a slingshot, the further back you are pulled, the further the launch into that dream, vision, and purpose.
