The Depth of Yes to God’s Will: Deeper Still // By Jamie McCarroll

By March 24, 2018All Posts

So let God work His will in you…Say a quiet yes to God…Quit dabbling in sin…Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out…Get serious, really serious…Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.  James 4:7-10 MSG

When despair overwhelms us leaving no where else to go, no one else to turn to, and with nothing else to lose except self many times we finally decide to hand over the reigns of our lives to Him.  What takes so long? Why did we not go this route from the very beginning? Did you know He can move in your life even in spite of those moments?

I am convinced God can take any event or situation in our lives and use it for good.  We have to come to a point where we realize it is only in Him we make it from this side to the other side victoriously.  Friends there is something He is working out in your lives so He can work His will through you, if you will only say yes wholeheartedly.  Sometimes, we open our mouths and say yes, but in our hearts we are screaming no. Sooner or later it becomes clear which one is winning out by our actions.  Many, many times I have had to stop myself in the midst of what I thought was His will and check deep within only to realize I was giving in to my own will. There have also been times I am actually in His will and I talked myself out of it.  Do you see what I am getting at here, ladies?

Did you really say yes to Him?

-With your mouth?

-In your heart?

-In your actions?

These are some of the things I focus on.  All of these areas must agree. There are depths when you say yes to God.  Let your heart be sincere and of high regard when you consider His will He is working in you.  He is working His will in you. Everything does not have to be perfectly aligned and mapped out.  If He is working His will in you that means constantly. He is allowing you to peek into His heart when you give Him a resounding yes.  A yes full of conviction and determination. A yes of desperate proportions. A yes of I trust you no matter what. A yes Lord, now what is my next step?

I know it is hard.  I know the heart is the meeting place of conflicting character traits.  I know that when we are not walking in His will corruptions began to stir in our hearts.  Thank goodness, He is there when we fall. Thank goodness, He is there to lift us up from humility to honor.  These are advantages of drawing near to Him. He covers you in His favor. A peace settles over you. A stillness that envelopes your heart in contentment.  Wherever His will may lead you in life. May your ‘quiet yes’ draw you closer to Him. May your heart be willing to be continually perfected by His love.
