Can I just be real for a second? I feel like I’m in a season of trial. Toddler trial season. You might have just laughed but I’m telling you the honest truth. Parenting a toddler is no joke you guys! Every day I find myself breathing really heavy closing my eyes and saying, “Help me Jesus”. The fruits of the spirit are getting eaten up pretty fast these days and the next morning I need to harvest a whole lot of new fruit or else I feel like I won’t make it through the day. It’s so so very frustrating when your kid doesn’t obey what you say! Oh my goodness! But trust me guys, when a child obeys, the best love language a kid can speak to a parent is spoken! I’m serious I feel so very loved when my child obeys! You have no idea!

See how I’m talking about love that I feel for me not the love that I feel for her? I will love her regardless of her obedience or disobedience. However, I feel more loved when she obeys me.

So now, knowing that we are so loved by our God, let’s show Him our love by obeying and honoring Him. And how we learn about the importance of obedience and faith in action is by studying His word. And no better book than the book of James.

This book focuses on the themes of wisdom, faith, ministry, ethics and social justice. James teaches us about obedience to the law of God, showing us that our obedience to God‘s moral standards proofs a living faith. This book is the perfect combo of Old and New Testament bringing it all to balance showing us that faith and works are
totally related in both the old and new covenants.

There are so many favorite scriptures in this book! Here are some of mine:

“Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.”
James 1:2-4 MSG

“Anyone who meets a testing challenge head-on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate. For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life.”
James 1:12 MSG

“Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light. There is nothing deceitful in God, nothing two-faced, nothing fickle.”
James 1:17 MSG

“Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don’t act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like.”
James 1:23-24 MSG

“So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.”
James 4:7-10 MSG

“Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed. The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.”
James 5:16-17 MSG

Sorry there are so many verses listed but seriously this book is just amazing! Join us this month as we become women that honor and obey our God by putting our faith to work!
