Being a woman of God. What does that mean to you?
There are several answers, several words, and several ways that this questions can be answered.
While reading about Mary Magdalene, one word comes to my mind. FAITHFUL.
If you’re like me, you knew who Mary Magdalene was, knew her name, but didn’t know a lot about her life in general.
Luke 8:1-2 “After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good new of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him and also some women who has been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons has come out.”
Jesus healed Mary, and through the gospels we see Mary’s unfaltering devotion to her healer.
Matthew 27:56, 61; 28:1; Mark 15:40, 47; 16:1-19; Luke 8:2; 24:10; John 19:25; 20:1-18
Read through these verses to soak in more of Mary Magdalene’s story.
Mary was with Jesus ALWAYS. She followed Him as He preached, she followed Him through the crucifixion, and she followed Him to His tomb.
What amazing strength and courage Mary must have had!
While I read Mary’s story I thought to myself, “can I relate to her? Does my faithfulness look like hers? Do I follow Jesus in all that I do?”.
Moving into this New Year, I have challenged myself and YOU to take Mary’s devotion to Jesus and apply it to my everyday. Pray more than you did last year, read more than you did last year, and finally do more than you did last year!
May Christ be the motivation.
