Your alarm goes off before the sun rises and you have every intention to get out of bed and head to the gym- your shoes and clothes are laid out, ready for you to slip on and embrace the cold. HOWEVER, your bed is so warm and sleeping an extra hour seems much more appealing than making it to the gym today. Does that sound familiar? Or how about, you get off of work and with your gym bag pre-packed and waiting in your car, you step out and embrace the cold once again. On your drive over, the list of errands and chores start going through your mind and suddenly you drive straight passed the gym without a second glance.I don’t know about you, but my motivation to make it to the gym, even for just 30 minutes, is at an all time low during this time of year. It’s cold, it’s busy, our routines are off, and did I mention it’s cold?
You know how they say two is better than one?
It’s absolutely true when it comes to continuing in my healthy lifestyle at the gym. I have started going to the gym with one of my good friends, Ally. I can honestly she has been a huge factor in my weekly gym attendance. If I know she is counting on me to be there, I am 100 percent more likely to run my errands 30 minutes later, or actually wake up when my alarm goes off in the morning! In addition, it’s more fun to talk to each other and catch up on our day while on the elliptical, or laugh with each other while lifting weights!
Accountability, accountability, accountability!
It works wonders by being that motivation you may lack. I encourage you to find a workout buddy and plan ahead on days you want to go to the gym. A new year is right around the corner. This is the perfect time to grab a friend and make those improvements we always talk about a reality!
