In a world where we often find our worth through titles and labels, I think my favorite label is daughter of Jesus. I can’t think of a better label. I know that sounds cheesy and probably kind of cliche, but I mean it. We are his daughters. That’s intimate and loving! The maker of every universe is our father, and he loves us beyond comprehension.
These days, society makes it easy to compare ourselves to other people and to feel inferior. In some ways, it’s almost subconscious. What we don’t realize is how absolutely toxic that is or maybe we do realize it. Comparison is poison, especially when it comes to God’s will over your life. It’s easy to look at someone else and think they are more “qualified” than you are. Which is one of the biggest lies used by the enemy, in an attempt to prevent the very thing you were born to do.
It is so easy to look at yourself in the mirror and think, “Wow, they make that look so easy. I’m not equipped enough for that.” But you see, the thing is, God doesn’t call the equipped. He equips the called. He will equip you. He will guide you. He will teach you. You are not just called, but you are equipped. God has given you the authority to speak life. To speak his truth. To rebuke every lie. Gods authority in you has already defeated every single obstacle and every single lie holding you back. You are more than capable of making God’s name known from nation to nation. You are qualified, you are equipped, and God has given you the authority to do so.
“For we are Gods handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
Next time you are looking in the mirror, speak these affirmations over yourself:
“I am beautiful”
“I am equipped”
“I am loved”
“I am a daughter of the King”
Speak love and life to yourself – and believe it! He has made us each unique. He has made us each authentic. We are all so beautiful. No need to compare your outer beauty or your inner beauty to those around you. How does Jesus see you?
“You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.” Song of Songs 4:7
So, with all of this being said, find your beauty in Jesus. Let your father tell you who you are and how to be it. Allow every season to be a season of perseverance and trust. No comparisons. Just inspiration and growth. Jesus loves you, sweet girl. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. God has given you the authority to put your foot down, and rebuke every single lie the enemy uses against you. So lay back, trust in your father and know the beauty inside of you is uniquely yours and no one else’s. Embrace it.
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14
